To provide a thermal transfer sheet which prevents defective printing caused by the fusion or adhesion between the thermal transfer sheet and a thermal transfer image receiving sheet without inducing wrinkle occurrence and dye bleeding and an image forming method.
The thermal transfer sheet has a dye layer in which a heat transferable dye is contained in a binder resin on a support. The dye layer contains at least one kind of polymer containing a repeating unit derived from a monomer (a) expressed by formula (1) and a monomer (b) having a 7C aliphatic group having a bridge bond. In formula (1), Rf is a substituent containing a fluoroalkyl group or a perfluoroalkyl group having at least 8 fluorine atoms, n is 1 or 2, and R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
