PURPOSE: To record a favorable full-color image without fusion transfer of a sublimable dye, by providing a recording layer comprising a sublimable dye on a base and providing a welding preventive layer through which a vapor of the sublimable dye can easily penetrate on the recording layer.
CONSTITUTION: A coating material obtained by dispersing and mixing sublimable dye in a binder solution is applied to the base 3 and is dried, or a solution of the sublimable dye and the binder in an appropriate solvent is applied to the base 3 and is dried, to provide the recording layer 2, and a dispersed liquid or solution of a material easily permeable to the vapor of the sublimable dye is applied to the layer 2, followed by drying to provide the welding preventive layer 1. The base 3 and the recording layer 2 can be provided by using materials used for conventional thermal transfer sheets. The material constituting the layer 1 is required to have such properties that it is not fused to the recording paper at the time of recording and it is easily permeable to the vapor of the sublimable dye, and may be polyvinyl alcohol, ethyl cellulose, an epoxy resin or the like.
