PURPOSE: To contrive an increase in the number of times the title ribbon can be used, by adding a dye to an intermediate adhesive layer to constitute an ink source.
CONSTITUTION: A material having a low softening temperature of about 150°C is used as a resin constituting an intermediate adhesive layer, thereby lowering the melt viscosity of the layer, and the same dye as that used in an ink is mixed in the resin. With this arrangement, a wax constituting the ink permeates into the intermediate adhesive layer to lower the melt viscosity of the layer to a value approximate to the melt viscosity of the ink, about 0.5 poise, resulting in that the intermediate adhesive layer functions also as an ink layer. With this construction, the adhesive property of the intermediate adhesive layer is lowered as compared with that in a conventional construction, but the thickness of an ink layer is decreased during use of the ink ribbon, so that the problem of exfoliation of the ink layer will not occur.
