In a thermistor element 1, wherein external electrodes 3 and 4 are formed on both major surfaces of a thermistor element body 2, first and second internal conductive layers 5 and 6 are formed to be parallel to the external electrodes 3 and 4 which are shifted towards the external electrode 3 or 4 within the thermistor element body 2. Provision of the internal conductive layers 5 and 6 enables realization of an averaged potential distribution within the element body 2.
