Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminate composed of a translucent layer and an opaque layer with handling ease and machinability of a high pressure decorative laminate as well as scratch resistance, toughness, cracking resistance and recyclability of a conventional solid surface material. SOLUTION: The translucent layer is composed of a thermoplastic acrylic polymer wherein an enough quantity of a filler to provide a Barcol hardness of at least 40 and an impact resistance improving agent are dispersed in the sheet. This thermoplastic acrylic polymer has a melt flow index of at least 1.5 and the filler has an aspect ratio of up to 25:1. The opaque layer is composed of a thermoplastic resin in which a filler in an amt. of 25 wt.% based on the total compsn. of the opaque layer and glass fibers are dispersed.
