Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composite glass fiber base material with good productivity and mechanical strength and excellent flexibility, and a method for preparing it.
SOLUTION: Preferably, a glass fiber strand obtd. by bundling a plurality of glass monofilaments pref. without providing splitting is impregnated with a thermoplastic resin and then, it is pref. drawn from a nozzle and is wound to obtain a thermoplastic resin composite glass fiber base material having a fiber material condition with a mean diameter of 0.2-1.5 mm, a glass content of 15-80 vol.%, an impregnation ratio of the thermoplastic resin of at least 95% and a curvature R≤30D×V (wherein D is a mean diameter and V is the glass content (vol.%/100) and the units of R and D are mm) when the buckling limit is expressed in terms of the curvature when it is bent.
