Title:
THERMOPLASTIC RESIN MOLDING OF GRANITIC APPEARANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02202943
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to give a molding whose surface has excellent smoothness and gloss and a beautiful appearance by mixing a polymethyl methacrylate resin as a matrix with an inorganic filler and colored polyester particles surface-treated with an epoxy-functional silanol compound. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. polymethyl methacrylate rein as a matrix is mixed with 100-300 pts.wt. inorganic filler and 0.5-40 pts.wt. colored polyethylene terephthalate particles (of a mean particle diameter of 0.1-3.0mm, desirably 0.5-2mm, surface-treated with 0.1-15 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. particles, epoxy- functional silanol composition) to obtain a material for a thermoplastic molding of a granitic appearance. This material is press-molded at 180-200 deg.C under a pressure of 10-100kg/cm<3> to obtain a molding of any desired shape.
