To overcome the drawback of conventional one-component coating compositions arising from the use of a blocking agent without adversely affecting its advantage over two-component coating compositions.
This invention provides a thermosetting cyclic isocyanate adduct which is a reaction product of a polyisocyanate component (a) having an average isocyanate functionality of 2 above and uretedione content (in terms of N2C2O2 of an MW of 84) of 1-30wt.%, based on the weight of the polyisocyanate component, with a compound having two or more isocyanato-reactive groups and in which at least 10wt.% of the reaction product is in the form of a cyclic group having a urea group and/or a urethane group, a process for producing the same, and articles, such as a coating, an adhesive, a molding, an elastomer or a foam, obtained by curing this composition at an elevated temperature in the presence of optionally another isocyanato-reactive compound.
