Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the titled molding material having excellent mechanical characteristics, electrical characteristics and resistance of heat, flame and wear by metal, containing fibrous magnesium hydroxysulfate.
CONSTITUTION: MgO or Mg(OH)2 is dispersed in MgSO4 and reacted by heating to obtain fibrous magnesium hydroxysulfate having a needle crystal structure, a ture specific gravity of 2.0W2.5, a length of 10W100μm, a diameter of 0.3W2μ, an aspect ratio of 30W60 and a bulk density of 0.05W0.2. 5W200pts.wt. fibrous magnesium hydroxysulfate is blended with a thermosetting phenolic resin such as phenolic novolak.
