PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermosetting powder coating compsn. which can yield a coating excellent impact resistance, chipping resistance, and weather resistance by incorporating a resin compsn., having an islands-sea type microphase separation structure comprising a continuous phase contg. a specified acrylic copolymer and a dispersed phase contg. a specified thermoplastic elastomer, and a curing agent.
SOLUTION: This thermosetting powder coating compsn. comprises: a resin compsn. having an islands-sea type microphase separation structure comprising a continuous phase of an acrylic copolymer, prepd. by polymerizing 40 to 99 wt.% monomer not having in its molecule a functional group reactive with a curing agent and having a radical-polymerizable vinyl group (e.g. methyl methacrylate) with 60 to 1 wt.% monomer having in its molecule a functional group reactive with the curing agent and having a radical-polymerizable vinyl group (e.g. glycidyl methacrylate), and a dispersed phase of a (graft-modified) thermoplastic elastomer in an amt. of 0.5 to 20 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. resin compsn.; and a curing agent (e.g. dodecanoic diacid).
