PURPOSE: The titled material requiring little amount of a material for imparting incombustibility, not suffering from reduction in strength and giving a light-weight molded product, which is prepared by incorporating waste paper crushed and rendered noncombustible in a thermosetting resin.
CONSTITUTION: A flame-retardant molding material is obtd. by compounding a thermosetting resin such as a phenol or epoxy resin with 5W60wt% waste paper crushed and rendered noncombustible as an org. filler and if necessary, another org. or inorg filler, and then with a curing agent, a curing auxiliary, a releasing agent, a colorant, etc. The thermosetting resin molding material has flame retardancy of 94V-O like those prepared by use of asbestos and is comparable to a conventional one in strength, so that it is possible to obtain a low-density and highly safe molding compound.
