To provide a thermostat which can surely inspect the operating temperature or the like and has high reliability on the temperature control performance and an excessive temperature rise preventing function.
The thermostat includes: a temperature control circuit 3 for opening/closing a movable contact point 9 and a fixed contact point 10 with the reversing action of a temperature control bimetal plate 6; and an excessive temperature rise preventing circuit 4 for opening/closing a movable contact point 14 and a fixed contact point 15 with the reversing action of an excessive temperature rise preventing bimetal plate 11, of which operating temperature is set higher than that of the temperature control bimetal plate 6. Each one end of the temperature control circuit 3 and the excessive temperature rise preventing circuit 4 is respectively provided with a connecting terminal 7 and a connecting terminal 12, and the other sides of the temperature control circuit 3 and the excessive temperature rise preventing circuit 4 are connected in series to each other by a conductive plate 5. An inspecting terminal 16 for inspecting the operating temperature and continuity is provided between the temperature control circuit 3 and the excessive temperature rise preventing circuit 4. The inspecting terminal 16 is arranged on the same side as the connecting terminals 7 and 12. The operating temperature and continuity of the thermostat 1 can be thereby surely inspected, and reliability on the temperature control and the excessive temperature rise prevention can be improved.
