To obtain a new compound capable of industrially advantageously synthesizing and useful as a germicide for agriculture and horticulture and an insecticidal and acaricidal agent having sure effects and capable of safely using.
This compound is represented by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or the like; X is O or the like; Y is a group or the like of formula II (Me is methyl); Het is a heterocycle such as thienyl which may be substituted with cyano or the like]. e.g. 2-methyl-5-methoxy-4-{2-[4-(6-methyl-2-pyridyl) thiazol-2-yloxymethyl]phenyl}-2,4-dihydro-1,2,4-triazol-3-one. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula III (L is a leaving group) [e.g. 2-methyl-5-methoxy-4-(2-bromomethylphenyl)-2,4-dihydro-1,2,4-triazol-3- one] with a compound of formula IV (X' is O or the like) [e.g. 4-(6-methyl-2- pyridyl)-2-hydroxythiazole or the like] in an inert solvent in the presence of a base.
