PURPOSE: To provide the title new compound having high thrombogenic activity, thus useful for the therapies of various kinds of thrombosis.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I {R1 and R2 are each halogen, lower alkyloxy, lower alkylthio, lower alkylsulfinyl or lower alkylsulfonyl; R3 is of formula II or of formula III [R4 is carboxyl, etc.; R5 is H or cyano; R6 is H or of formula IV (Y is lower alkylene); Xa is bond or lower alkenylene; Xb is bond or lower alkylene]}, for example, 4-(4- fluorophenyl)-5-(4-methylthiophenyl)-2-thiazolecarbaldehyde. The present compound can be obtained by reaction between a compound of formula V and another compound of formula VI or its salt in an organic solvent (e.g. THF) under cooling to heating. The present compound is also useful as a vasodilator, antiallergic agent, anti-inflammatory agent or 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor.
