This thick book comprises a plurality of two-page size printed papers 1 which are U-folded in the center part and each of single-page size reinforcing boards 2 bonded to an area across the spine through a bookbinding process. In addition, this book has the center parts of the printed papers 1 stuck way out of the ends of the reinforcing boards 2 by more than the thickness of the board 2. The bookbinding device for the thick book is equipped with a pasting roller having many projecting parts which absorb a surplus paste, in order to ensure the uniform pasting of the printed papers 1 and the reinforcing boards 2 of a different thickness from each other.
