Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extremely thin aluminum effect pigment not carrying an adhesion polymer film and having excellent hiding power, high gloss and improved metallic appearance, and to provide a method of manufacturing the aluminum pigment at lower cost than a method using a PVD pigment, and a method of using the same.SOLUTION: There is provided an aluminum pigment coated at least partially by using a lubricant, and having a relative width Δh of a thickness distribution determined by a thickness measurement with a scanning type electron microscope and calculated according to the formula Δh=100×(h-h)/hbased on a cumulative breakthrough curve of a corresponding relative frequency of appearance of 30% to less than 70%, and an X ray diffraction figure measured for a pigment practically in a parallel direction to a surface having one or two main peaks not corresponding to [111] reflection.
