To provide a three-dimensional fabric having high designability and fashionableness (e.g. excellent in aesthetic forms such as shape, pattern and texture) and capable of effectively being utilized as e.g. the cover for knobs, and to provide a method for producing the same fabric.
A knob cover 1 is made up of a rubber structure where an elastic cord or thread is made to become a three-dimensionally (baglike) braided product as a totally integral plaited cord-like structure. On this occasion, elastic cords or threads A1-Ai-An are placed in a held state with a wire fixture 13 formed so as to have a knob cover shape and are stretched with carries C1-Ci- Cn of a braider. The carriers are made to travel along carrier grooves 5 so as to allow the carriers to perform meander motion and make the elastic cords or threads cross each other to braid the head portion of a knob cover along the top part of a mold. The mold is lifted according to the structural length of the whole of the knob cover 1 braided through the travel of the carriers and a prescribed length down to the bottom of the mold is braided while the body of the cover 1 is made to fit to the body of the mold. The ends of elastic cords or threads A1-Ai-An which have been finished to be braided are fixed on the structural part.
