PURPOSE: To measure an accurate coefficient of elasticity without requiring various load meters which differ in capacity by providing an automatic displacement measurement part for measuring vertical displacement at a fixed point and a calculation part for calculating the coefficient of elasticity of a material.
CONSTITUTION: A rectangularly or circularly sectioned test-piece 1 is made of a material to be measured and its size is measured. Supports 2 are fitted to a saddle 3 at desired intervals and the test-piece 1 is placed thereupon as a beam. A linear motion mechanism 4 is operated manually by a motor driver 6 to adjust the position of the saddle 3 so that a loading point is right on one of the supports 2, and a proper weight 10 is placed on a weight base 13 with a rod. Necessary data on the loading quantity, support interval, test-piece size, etc., are inputted and a computer 17 performs control automatically to move the saddle 3 so that the loading point moves from the one support 2 to another support 2. Simultaneously, the computer reads the position of the loading point and the displacement of the test-piece corresponding to it and calculates and outputs such a coefficient of elasticity that the relation between the both approximates a theoretical curve containing the coefficient of elasticity most.
