To enhance travel performance of a vehicle by making a working speed of a throttle valve different between an increasing tendency and a reducing tendency of an operation speed of an accelerator pedal.
An operation quantity of the accelerator pedal is detected by an accelerator sensor, and an air quantity in a suction pipe supplied to a combustion chamber of an engine, is adjusted by the throttle valve on the basis of a detecting result. The throttle valve is adjusted in a suction quantity by being driven by a pulse motor. When performing stepping operation and return operation of the accelerator pedal, the operation speed and operation acceleration of the accelerator pedal are arithmetically operated, to determine whether the operation acceleration is positive acceleration or negative acceleration, and the working speed of the throttle valve is separately controlled on the basis of determination of an operation initial stage and an operation final stage of the accelerator pedal. The working speed of the throttle valve is made different in response to a vehicle speed.
