An element substrate structure is adopted, where a negative electrode strip and an anode electrode strip are arranged on the front and rear of an insulating substrate, respectively, a number of through holes are provided on the insulating substrate, and electrons and ions generated in an ionization gas by radiation can freely travel between both the electrodes. A large electric signal in the same pulse waveform, where polarity is inverted, is given to each two-dimensional signal output to obtain a high signal-to-noise ratio.
