To eliminate the uneven rolling caused by the non-uniformity of rotation of a ring member by interposing a thrust bearing between the inner surface of an alligator grip and the ring member.
In a thrust receiving block for multi-step mill rotatably holding the ring member to a pin 3 inserted from the upper part to the lower part of the alligator grip 2 of the alligator grip block 1, the thrust bearings 8, 8 are interposed between the inner surface of the alligator grip 2 and the outer ring 7. By this constitution, the outer ring 7 is not only worn by friction contact with the inner surface of the alligator grip 2 but also, smooth rotation is secured. As a result, the uneven rotation of the work roll is eliminated and the rolled defect is not caused. Thereafter, the product quality and the yield are improved. Further, since the worn damage of the outer ring 7 is eliminated, the productivity is improved.
