To provide a tinsel yarn manufacturing method which enables the manufacture of a tinsel yarn at the cost corresponding to a market request, realizing high degree fire retardancy as compared with a conventional tinsel yarn using a polyester film, excellent in flexibility, handleability and feel and causing no effect on environment at the time of discarding.

The sheet for manufacturing the tinsel yarn is constituted by making a polyimide resin layer overlie both sides of the polyester film and characterized by laminating a metal vapor deposition layer on at least one side of the polyester film. Further, the tinsel yarn is obtained by finely cutting the sheet for manufacturing the tinsel yarn.
