To form an even side rake angle for a hollow face type blade shape even if both of the sort and the number of shafted grinding wheels are reduced by forming side rake angles equally moving the axial center of a rotary grinding wheel having a radius within a specific numeral range to symmetrical positions at least with respect to the central face of the blade width.
When a rake face of a hollow face type tip 101 is ground with the grinding wheel axial center set in the center of the blade width in a grinding wheel 4 integrated with a grinding wheel shaft 3, a blade width W, a side rake angle θ, and a grinding wheel radius R satisfy the relationship: R=W/2sinθ. The grinding wheel shaft 3 of the grinding wheel 4 is shifted to the left by a predetermined amount -e parallelly to the central face of the blade width and set parallelly to the rake face for forming a left rake face 1aL with a left dimple, while the grinding wheel shaft 3 is shifted to the right by an amount +e to the position symmetric with respect to the blade width central face for forming a right rake face 1aR with a right dimple. In this process, a peripheral speed is not sufficient if the grinding wheel radius R is too small and rigidity of the grinding wheel 4 is lowered, so that the grinding wheel radius R is set within a range from 1.5 mm to W/2sinθ mm.
