PURPOSE: To provide a new process for easily and quickly separating peptides and/or amino acids (abbreviated as P/A hereafter) and a separation kit useful for performing the separation process.
CONSTITUTION: This process for the separation of a P/A mixture comprises (1) a step to react the P/A mixture with biotin or its reactive derivative to form a bonded product of P/A having nitrogen-containing group and (2) a step to bond the bonded product to a carrier having avidin or its reactive derivative and separate the bonded product from the mixture. The P/A mixture to be separated by this process is composed of a P/A free from free primary amino group, NH group of pyrrolidine nucleus or monoalkylated amino group (collectively abbreviated as nitrogen-containing group hereafter) and a P/A having the nitrogen-containing group. This separation kit for the P/A mixture contains biotin or its reactive derivative and avidin or its reactive derivative.
