CONSTITUTION: An automatic sorting device 1 for mail is equipped with a supply part 3, a read part 9, a recognition part 11, a column pass gate 15 and a division part 17. After mail P is supplied, the code of the target division is read and recognized. Mail P is stored into a division box correspondent to the code of the target division. An auxiliary operation panel 25 is arranged in the vicinity of the column pass gate 15. The auxiliary operation panel 25 is provided to rapidly perform jam treatment in a time for generation of jam and restart-up and equipped with a jam clear switch and an operation preparation/supply switch.
