PURPOSE: To achieve the decrease of printing cost, by a method wherein when prints of various sizes are printed, plates of sizes corresponding thereto are provided and the same plate cylinder is always used.

CONSTITUTION: The sufficient large plate cylinder 51 of R in radius is provided and plural pieces of plate 52a having an optional length l' not more than its one circumferential length as the maximum limit are provided. Only the plate is exchanged according to the size of print to be used and for the plate cylinder the same one is used. Though the plate cylinder 51 are repectively driven via respective gears G with respective driving motors M and continuously rotated, contact pressure to an impression cylinder is gone while there is no plate 52a on the surface of the plate cylinder 51 and therefore, recording paper 1 is not fed. In short, even though the plate cylinder 51 is continuously rotated, the recording paper 1 is intermittently fed by each length l' of printing draft. Thus, multicolor printing having a given length l' of the plate can be carried out.
