PURPOSE: To send image signals to an image display means by a modulated light by providing respectively an image display means, a peripheral base plate in the main body of a device, a light transmitting means on the peripheral base plate and a light receiving means in the image display means.
CONSTITUTION: A display panel 1 inside the main body of the device has an image display part 3 for displaying images, a data driver 4 and a scanning driver 5 for driving the image display part 3 and a light transmitting member 7 and a light receiving means 8 for transferring image signals, etc., on a base plate 1a. Besides, the peripheral base plate 2 is provided with a light receiving member 9 and a light transmitting means 10. The light receiving member 9 is provided so as to be on the optical path of the modulated light so that it can receive the modulated light from the light transmitting member 7. Moreover, the light transmitting means 10 is provided at a position where it converts signals such as image signal and so forth into the modulated light and can transmit the modulated light to the light receiving means 8. Thus, bi-directional transfers of the image signals and information signals, etc., by the modulated light are made possible between the display panel 1 and the peripheral base plate 2.
