Abstract:
PURPOSE:To certainly read embossing character even when the base color of a card is dark by lighting up the card also from the side of a recessed part at the back of the embossing. CONSTITUTION:The embossing characters are read after the embossing 2 of a card 1 is lighted up by a light source 4 which is a lighting up means at the side of a projecting part of the embossing and reflected light is made incident on an image sensor 6. In this case, the card 1 is lighted up also from the back by a light source 5 provided on the side of the recessed part of the embossing and a boundary 3 of the embossing 2 is read certainly even when the base of the card is relatively dark. Thus, this card transaction recorder by which the embossing characters can be read certainly is obtained.
