PURPOSE: To prevent development unevenness and suppress processing alteration by employing a supplimenting way to supply a solid processing agent for coloring development directly to a coloring development processing tank, specifying an air time ratio, and processing a silver halide color photographic material containing a specified magenta coupler.

CONSTITUTION: Regarding an automatic development processing apparatus having a function to supply a solid processing agent for coloring development directly to a processing tank in coloring development process; the air time ratio during the coloring development process is set to be 5-30%. A silver halide color photographic material is processed, said material contains picture composing layers including silver halide emulsion layers on a supporting body and also contains at least one kind of magenta couplers having a formula in at least one layer of the picture composing layers. In the formula, R stands for hydrogen atom or a substituent group; Z stands for a non-metal atom group necessary to form a nitrogen-containing heteroring group which may have a substituent group; and X stands for hydrogen atom or a group which can be separated by a reaction with an oxidized substance of a color developing main reagent.
