Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material having high abrasion resistance and high deflective strength by combining carbon fiber, metal fiber, metallic grain, carbon grain, etc. as desired and sintering the same.

CONSTITUTION: Carbon fiber and metal fiber or fibrous composition mixed with these fibers or the like are uniformly mixed with pulverized particles of carbon and/or metal at prescribed ratio. Such mixed compsn. is quickly heated to a sintering temp. and is then quenched, whereafter the compsn. is molded by compression molding. The above-described fibers of carbon or metal are in the shape of fiber, spun yarn, wire, rope or filament or the combined shape thereof and have a fine diameter. The composite carbon metal material which is composed of fibrous metal and/or fibrous carbon and metallic particle or carbon grain and has high abrasion resistance and deflective strength is obtd. by the above-mentioned method.
