Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the combustion efficiency of fine particles deposited in the vicinity of cell inlet of a filter by providing a plurality of microwave generators, superposing microwaves generated thereby, and intensifying the intensity of microwaves at an arbitral position in the filter. CONSTITUTION:In a device wherein ceramic filters 1 made of ceramics formed in a honeycomb structure are superposed through sheet-shaped buffer members 5 in a can case 6, the front part of the can case 6 is formed in a conical shape, and to the wall face wave guides 7a, 7b are connected. Magnetrons 8a, 8b are mounted on end parts of the wave guides 7a, 7b. With the constitution, the can case 6 is made a microwave resonance chamber 9 through its entire volume, and microwaves are made the maximum at the front part of the filter 1 according to the relation between the end parts of the wave guides 7a, 7b and the filter 1. At the time of regeneration of filter 1, magnetrons 8a, 8b are put on in their power, and then microwaves are radiated to the filter 1. Thereby discharge is generated inside fine particles deposited to heat and burn them.
