PURPOSE: To provide a display device capable of normal display regardles of whether horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals inputted from the outside are positive or negative.

CONSTITUTION: In the display device displaying information by deciding timing with the horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals having either one side of the positive/negative polarities inputted from the outside and scanning display screen, synchronizing signal polarity matching circuits 5 constituted of a polarity detection circuit 3 detecting whether the polarities of the horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals are either of positive or negative and a polarity inversion circuit 4 inverting and outputting the polarity when the detected result of the polarity detection circuit 3 is the polarity opposite to either one polarity, and outputting the polarity as it is when the detected result is the same polarity as either one polarity are provided on the input sides of the horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals respectively.
