Abstract:
PURPOSE: To smooth a motion of an image, even in the case of the variable speed playback and the shuttle mode reproduction of a video tape recorder by mixing or linking proportionally pluralities of video frames. CONSTITUTION: In the case of conducting variable speed reproduction, adjacent video frames are used to mix video images. In the mix processing, respective pixel values of respective frames are added, and the sum is divided by number of the summed frames. In the case of a shuttle operation, discontinuous frames are linked and a common frame is used for adjacent frames as a result of linking to form a mixed frame. Thus, even in the case of the variable speed reproduction or the shuttle mode playback, since the speed of a motion of a reproduced image is close to a speed of the motion of an image of an analog VTR when reproduction is made at a speed, corresponding to a reduction ratio of an output frame number to an original frame number, the user easily understands the contents of video images.
