Abstract:

PURPOSE: To decrease a quantity of fuel adhering to a wall when a temperature of an internal combustion engine is low so as to enhance startability of the internal combustion engine by prolonging a time when an air control valve is opened after completion of fuel injection at the time of starting of the internal combustion engine in comparison with that after the starting.

CONSTITUTION: An air flow from an air assist passage 1 is supplied to a fuel injection flow from a fuel injection valve 34. An air control valve 36 opens or closes the air assist passage 1 in synchronism with fuel injection. A nozzle 44 injects a mixture of injection fuel with an air flow. An air supply controller 2 controls a valve opening timing and a valve closing timing of the air control valve 36. A start controller 3 controls to prolong a time when the air control valve 36 is opened after completion of fuel injection at the time of starting of an internal combustion engine in comparison with that after the starting. Consequently, it is possible to decrease a quantity of fuel adhering to a wall when a temperature of the internal combustion engine is low, so as to enhance startability of the internal combustion engine.
