Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the unnecessary movement of a sheath by providing a toroidal enlarged part forming a smooth curve in the lengthwise cross section of a catheter in the vicinity of the end of the catheter, so that when the catheter has been put in the sheath, the enlarged part separately supports the end of the sheath and also prevents the movement thereof. CONSTITUTION: An extension tube 41 having an external surface is provided to a catheter. The extension tube 41 is provided with a guide wire lumen 28 and a balloon inflation lumen 40 for carrying a fluid to a balloon 42 and for expanding it. Further, on the outside surface of the catheter at the flange 50 of the balloon 42, a ring-shaped enlarged part 52 forming a smooth curved surface is formed, and when the catheter is inserted into the sheath, the end part of the sheath is placed to the opposite of the enlarged part 52, so that the end of the sheath is supported in the position most distant to the catheter and also the movement of the end to the catheter can be prevented.
