Abstract:
PURPOSE:To effectively relax force of deformation due to heat by constituting a honeycomb core body by alternately arranging a flat plate-shaped strip material and a corrugated plate-shaped strip material having slits in a laminar state and making the advance direction of corrugation of the flat plate-shaped strip material parallel to the axis direction of the honeycomb core body. CONSTITUTION:A flat plate-shaped strip material 11 and a corrugated plate- shaped strip material 12 are alternately arranged in a laminar state to constitute a honeycomb core body 1 having a large number of mesh like vent holes 13 in its axis direction and supporting an exhaust gas purifying catalyst. The flat plate-shaped strip material 11 has corrugations whose pitch width and height are together less than the pitch width P1 and height H1 of the corrugations of the strip material 12 and the corrugations thereof are provided so that the advance direction of the corrugations becomes parallel to the axis direction of the honeycomb core body 1. Slits or notch parts S are provided to the strip material 12. As a result, the deformation force due to heat can be effectively absorbed and relaxed. This honeycomb core body can be safely used over a long period of time and can keep high purifying efficiency.
