PURPOSE: To improve display performance by causing the phase sepn. of the compatibilized matter of a photosetting resin material contg. monofunctional monomers and oligomers and liquid crystals by photoirradiation, thereby dispersing the liquid crystals into a polymer.
CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal panel 10 is constituted by sealing a liquid crystal layer 16 between a pair of glass substrates 12 and 14 facing each other. This liquid crystal layer 16 is formed by causing the phase sepn. of the compatibilized matter of the photosetting resin material contg. the monofunctional monomers and the oligomers and the liquid crystals by the photoirradiation to disperse the liquid crystals 18 into the transparent polymers 22 in the form of liquid crystal capsules 20. The monofunctional monomers or the monomers having ≥200 mol.wt. are preferably selected in such constitution. The former improves the relation between an impressed voltage and transmittance and the latter lowers the evaporation of the photosetting resin material in a vacuum. The monomers which do not possess sections leading to polarities, such as ether bonds, are preferably selected. Further, a combination in which the solubility parameter of the photosetting resin material is smaller than the solubility parameter of the liquid crystals 18 is more preferable.
