Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain excellent display quality without occurring cross-talk according to a condition in display even when the number of scanning line are increased by forming an insulation layer between a ferroelectric film and a signal electrode and possessing the layer with a characteristic as a varistor and substantially cutting a signal with a fixed voltage or below.

CONSTITUTION: Transparent electrodes with a prescribed pattern consisting of a conductive thin film respectively are formed on substrates 10, 19, and become the transparent electrode 12 and the counter transparent electrode 18, and the nonlinear element 13 of ferroelectric substance is formed on one side of the transparent electrode 12. Then, the insulation film 14 is formed on the nonlinear element 13 of the ferroelectric substance. Then, a metallic electrode 15 is formed on the insulation film 14, and the metalic electrode acts as the signal electrode. An oriented film 16 is formed on the metalic electrode 15 and the counter oriented film 17 is formed on the counter transparent electrode 18. Then, liquid crystal 20 and a spacer 21 are injected and sprayed into between the oriented film 16 and the counter oriented film 17.
