Abstract:
PURPOSE: To maintain a large pay load in an orbit by forming a dual fuel type high propulsion engine for liquid fuel and a single fuel type reaction control thrust generating device for position holding and attitude control. CONSTITUTION: An apogee engine 10 receives the supplying of fuel from a hydrazine fuel tank 12, and receives supply of oxidizer from an oxidizer tank 14. The tanks 12, 14 are pressurized using a pressure supply tank 16 filled with insert gas, such as helium. The hydrazine fuel tank 12 is also connected to multiple thrust generators 22 by a conduit 18 and an appropriate valve 20. An electrothermal reinforcing thrust generator 24 is used as an additional thrust option along with hydrazine fuel. An arc jet engine 26 is used as another option for a position holding function. A specific thrust performance is realized by a force field acceleration motor 28. As a result, propellant weight and inner propulsion system weight are reduced, thus it is possible to hold a large quantity of pay load in a desired orbit.
