Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a light shielding layer unnecessary and, at the same time to improve the using efficiency of a light source and photodetector by providing a wavelength converting member on the route of signal light. CONSTITUTION:An original 52 which is set in close contact with cover glass 51 is irradiated with lighting light 54 through a glass substrate 40, insulating layer 46, protective layer 49, adhesive layer 50, and the cover glass 51. The reflected light from the original 52 is converted into a prescribed wavelength component by means of a wavelength converting member 60 as signal light 55 after passing through the glass 51, layers 50, 49, and 46 and made incident on a photodetector 44 through a transparent electrode 45. Therefore, the occurrence of noise and variation of the switching characteristic can be suppressed by setting the wavelength of the light 54 to a wavelength component at which no photoelectron is generated by means of the element 44, a lower common electrode 41, and the electrode 45 or a thin film transistor which is a picture element selecting element.
