Abstract:
The invention relates to an injector (10, 210), in particular for controlling injection of fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine having a closing member (14, 214) which controls an injection port (16, 216) and an actuating device (44, 244). Said device consists of a piezoelectric actuator (52, 252) and a valve element (50, 250) for regulating hydraulic fluid communication between the channels conducting hydraulic fluid (28, 228, 36, 236, 46, 246, 48, 248). According to the invention, the valve element (50, 250) enables pressure or needle lift controlled injection cycles (10, 210) of the injector by controlling hydraulic fluid connections between at least one inlet (46, 246), one return (48, 248) and two control channels (28, 228 and 36, 236) respectively and can be brought into at least three switch positions.
