Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the amount of unrequired data from being increased by extracting the contour of an image from an inputted binary image first, applying thinning on a contourized image after obtaining the contourized image, and generating vector data approximated by a two-dimensional line segment by tracing the black picture element string of image data. CONSTITUTION:A thinned image 3 is generated by applying the thinning further to the contourized image 2 obtained by contourizing an inputted original image 1. In other words, vector approximation is performed after forming a part with two picture elements of line width in one picture element, and a vectorized image 4 can be obtained. Also, a part with three or more picture elements of line width receives no influence due to the thinning since it is formed in the contour with one picture element of line width. Thus, since no part with two picture elements of line width exists, no short grid shape vector is generated, which prevents the amount of basically unrequired data from being increased.
