PURPOSE: To provide a clad bar stock having good migration resistance and solderability and easy to manufacture industrially and the manufacture thereof.
CONSTITUTION: This clad bar stock is made by joining the central layer composed of copper and zinc between metals and provided with a surface layer composed of oxygen-free copper or copper alloy other than copper-zinc alloy. Oxide, oil component, etc., are removed from the surface of a cast cake of copper-zinc alloy and a plate material of oxygen-free copper, oil content, etc., or of copper alloy other than the copper-zinc alloy is arranged on the cast cake material and fixed to it to form a composite body and heated in the non- oxidizing atmosphere. Further, a working rate exceeding at least 60% is given by hot rolling and the clad bar stock is formed by cold rolling and annealing the rolled composite body through the manufacture to form a prescribed thickness.
