Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the thermal deterioration of a reforming catalyst by providing a duplex reaction pipe consisting of an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder, introducing a raw gas from one end of the outer cylinder, discharging the reformed gas from one end of the inner cylinder, and allowing a heating medium to flow from the raw gas inlet side to the reformed gas outlet side. CONSTITUTION:The duplex reaction pipe 3 packed with a reforming catalyst 28 is arranged in the heating chamber 15 of a furnace 2. The raw gas consisting of methanol and steam is supplied into a evaporator 9 from a raw gas supply end 9a, and introduced into the reaction pipe 3 from the lower end of the outer cylinder 17 of the reaction pipe 3. The high-temp. combustion gas from a burner 4 as the heating medium is simultaneously introduced into the heating chamber 15 from the lower part, sent upward along the inner wall of the reaction tube 3 while heating a catalyst bed 28, and discharged from an outlet 15a. The raw gas introduced into the outer cylinder 17 of the reaction tube 3, reversed as the other end of the outer cylinder 17, introduced into the inner cylinder 19 from its one end, and discharged from the other end as the reformed gas.
