Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the directivity and to improve the workability of a chip type piezoelectric resonator.

CONSTITUTION: This chip type piezoelectric resonator 72 is provided with a piezoelectric resonator element 37 provided with vibration electrodes 6-9, 13 and 14 set counter to each other on both sides of a piezoelectric substrate 33 and plural terminal electrode 4, 5 and 15 connected on the vibration electrodes 6-9, 13 and 14, respectively and utilizes the thickness-shear vibration, the damping members 38-41 which cover the vibration areas of the element 37, the sheathing resin 42 which exposed the terminal electrodes 4, 5 and 15 on the side face of the element 37 and also covers both sides of the element 37, the external electrodes 60-62 which are electrically connected to the electrodes 4, 5 and 15. In such a constitution of the resonator 72, the width and the thickness are identical with each other and the lengthwise size is double as such as the width.
