Abstract:
A flotation collector for treatment of aqueous systems containing inorganic substances, consists of a copolymer contg. 2-95% (molar) (pref. 5-90%) of structural units (I): where R1 is H or Me; Y is O or NH; A is 1-4C alkylene, 2-4C hydroxyalkylene or is an anion; and 5-98% (pref. 10-95%) of structural units (II): where R5 is H or Me; W is 6-8C aryl, -COO(CnH2nO)mR6, -CONHR6, -OR6 or -OCOR6, n is 2-4; m is 0-20; R6 is 1-18C alkyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl, 7-10C aralkyl or 6-18C aryl; and 0-50 (pref. 0-20%) of other structural units. The mean mol. wt. of the copolymer is 1,000-1,000,000 (pref. 2,000-500,000). The copolymer is pref. added to the aqueous system at 1-20000 mg/litre. Pref. in (I) Y is O and A is methylene or ethylene; Z is -NMe2 or -(+)NMe3.X(-). In (II) W is Ph or -COO(CnH2nO)mR6; m is not zero; R is 1-12Calkyl. Most preferably the copolymer is obtained by copolymerisation of ethylene with 1-12C alkyl (meth)acrylate or of styrene with (meth)acrylamide.
