PURPOSE: A secondary alcohol ester of a specific dibasic acid is added to polyamide and the composition is subjected to melt spinning to suppress the sublimation of monomer on the surface of extruded fibers to prevent the spinneret surface from monomer deposition as well as cause no yarn breakage.
CONSTITUTION: A secondary alcohol ester of a dibasic acid of the formula: ROOC(CH2)nCOOR (R is residue of 4W8C secondary alcohol; n is 1W8) such as di-sec.-butyl malonate, di-2-hexyl succinate is added to polyamide such as poly- -capramide or polyhexamethylene adipamide. Then, the composition is subjected to melt spinning. The monomer of polyamide on the fiber surface is suppressed in sublimation and thermal decomposition by the action of the low molecular substance formed by the thermal decomposition of the ester. As the above ester, is preferably cited the one bearing 11W18C alkyl, when the spinning temperature is 240W260°C and the one of 18W26C alkyl at higher than 260°C.
