PURPOSE: To select a desired music from a KARAOKE (accompaniment for singing) reproducing device even without knowing the name of music or the name of singer.
CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a storage means 13 which beforehand store music classification information of each music stored in a recording medium. The means 13 generates an item content selection instruction which designates at least the content of one item among the plural different items contained in the music classification information in accordance with an operation and retrieves a music from the means 13 corresponding to the content of at least one item indicated by the instruction. When the name of desired music or the name of singer are not known or the user wishes to sing a music that matches with the circumstances or his feeling, the desired music is retrieved and he enjoys the KARAOKE based on the retrieved result.
