PURPOSE: To achieve a greater reliability in the results of the measurement with an easier maintenance and inspection of the equipment by introducing a differential rotation signal between a synchronous rotor and a rotor of a known fixed speed into a rotational speed arithmetic unit contactless through no slide section.
CONSTITUTION: A part of light sent from a light source 28 enters the first optical fiber 36a and the incident light is radiated to a synchronous rotor 14 from the tip radiation surface of the first optical fiber 36a. Then, a differential rotation signal corresponding to the differential rotation between the synchronous rotor 14 and a rotor 24 of a fixed speed is reflected as pulse-like signal from a reflector plate of the synchronous rotor 14. This reflected signal enters the second optical fiber 36b from the output terminal of the first optical fiber 36a while a part thereof is sent to a rotational speed arithmetic unit through a beam splitter 38 to conpute the rotational speed of an object 12 to be measured accurately. This facilitates the maintenance and inspection of the equipment thereby enabling a greater reliability in the results of the measurement.
