Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a sufficient erasing rate by varying the film thicknesses of a signal recording medium on top of guide grooves and on top between the guide grooves and changing the reflectivity or transmittance on top between the guide grooves at the rate smaller than the rate of the change on top of the guide grooves before and after the change of an optical constant. CONSTITUTION:The signal recording medium 2 contg. the material which is changed in the optical distance by condensing laser light thereto and applying the heat thereto is formed on a transparent substrate 1 on which the guide grooves 5 are formed. The film thicknesses tG, tL of the recording medium 2 are varied on top of the guide grooves 5 and on top between the guide grooves 6 (or part on top between the guide grooves 6). The reflectivity or transmittance of the recording medium 2 on top between the guide grooves 6 (or part on top between the guide grooves 6) is changed at the rate smaller than the rate of the change on top of the rate smaller than the rate of the change on top of the guide grooves 5. The region of the reflectivity change or transmittance change is limited to the groove parts 5 in this way. The sufficient erasing rate is thus obtd.
